I don’t think that I really knew what I was doing for my son when I signed him up for thirty sessions with Bernie D., but regardless of our initial impressions I can tell you they have been greatly exceeded! I had basically wanted him to learn fundamental exercise techniques and some skills that might help him mentally and physically with the challenges presented to teens in today’s society. Boy, what a wake-up call for both of us!
My son had always been active in various sports, but besides the daily rigors of school athletics, and summer fun, he had never experience a professional, thought out, fitness plan. I don’t think we consciously thought about gaining knowledge in a disciplined workout ethic, enhancing core strength and martial arts training – but that’s exactly what he is getting. Besides the great workout he gets every time, he is learning some important life lessons with Bernie. Lessons that are similar to what professional athletes discuss when crediting their former college coaches for on and off field successes.
The results are already present after only four weeks with Bernie. His body framework has changed as he has added lean muscle to his frame. Most importantly, he has gained a positive mental image, physically and mentally, about himself. An understanding of commitment to longer term goals is developing as time goes on, all adding to the make-up of a well rounded young man. Thank you Bernie!
